Google Chrome Badging and slow websites warning

What is it, and why should you care?

Late last year the tech titan Google released a blog post detailing a new badging system they're applying to their Google Chrome web browser, in which it pre warns visitors of slow loading pages. It is in the process of creating a system that identifies website and labels them according to their speed.

They will do this by looking at a websites historical load times and alert users of any websites that have aspects of them that make it run slow. Chrome would then provide a warning to any users when clicking on any websites considered slow loading sites. The way that they will do this could possibly take many forms, but they have stated they will be experimenting with a few different methods in order to provide their users with the best possible value.

What impact could it have?

If your website loads slowly then this could present a decrease in your website traffic, due to users being put off by the warning of a slow website. With the internet becoming an ever speedier and more convenient place a slow website could be the difference between someone buying from you and and not even going on to your website.
