What if there was a way to turn the millions of people scrolling through their feeds on Instagram into spenders? Or, more specifically, into people buying the pieces you have for sale. Well.... there is!
Instgram shopping allows you to:-
a) Showcase your entire stock inventory on Instgram
b) Tag your pieces in pictures
c) Link your stock through to your website so visitors can buy it
According to a survey by Instagram, nearly half of people use Instagram to shop weekly. We know for a fact a lot of our 300 or so antiques, art and vintage dealers already use Instagram to connect with their customers but that may rely on messages back and forth off the back of a post to complete a sale. Instagram Shopping presents a much more streamlined way to sell to people scrolling through their feeds on Instagram.
Instagram is brilliant; we love it. However without Instagram Shopping there is a lack of a "call to action" to turn people looking at your items into people buying your items. Without Instagram Shopping people have to reply to a post or message you directly, and in the time between them messaging you and you replying they might have found and bought another item somewhere else.
Instagram, without Instagram Shopping, doesn't allow you to put links on posts so that visitors can directly buy the item from you (eg from your website). However with Instagram Shopping every time you post a picture to Instagram, you can tag items (products) from your Instagram Shopping onto the picture so that people scrolling through can click to view the actual items in the picture.
You also get a link to "View Shop" appear in the post too...
When visitors click to view that item on Instagram Shopping, they'll get to see more pictures of the item, a full description, and best of all a link to view it on your actual website so they can buy the item.
This is a massive bonus because as most of us know, you can't put links on individual Instagram posts which really limits the "call to action". However if your Instagram account is set up with Instagram shopping and all your items are uploaded then you can easily tag items in your posts so that visitors scrolling through have got an easy way to click, view and buy your items from your website 24/7/365.
When you have Instagram Shopping set up and visitors view your account on Instagram there will be a "View Shop" button as seen below. Click on that and they'll be able to view all the items for sale on your website, and click to view them.
When you hit "View Shop" you'll see the entire shop on Instagram...
One of the limitations of Instagram is that you can't put links in your posts, which is really annoying because if you could then you'd be able to link to each item on your website so that visitors could buy it online, no matter the time of day, or whether you were around to reply to DM on Instagram.
This is all solved with Instagram Shopping as you can tag each item on Instagram Shopping and from there visitors can click to view and buy the item on your website.
After all, what we want is visitors going to the checkout and buying!
So, turning more scrollers into buyers, getting more visitors to your website, and making more sales.... sounds too good to be true, right?
Well, it is not too be good to true but there is a caveat!
... a caveat we help alleviate! :)
Getting all your items onto Instagram Shopping yourself isn't particularly easy and many would say it's just convoluted.
